PS5 setup for Cronus Zen has a few nuances compared to PS4 and Xbox — specifically around the HDMI passthrough and Remote Play detection. This guide covers PS5-specific steps so you can skip the generic setup and focus on what is different for PlayStation 5.
PS5 hardware connection
The Zen connects to PS5 via the front USB-A port (USB 2.0, which is compatible with Zen). Use the Zen's provided USB-A to USB-C cable for the Zen-to-PS5 connection:
- Connect your DualSense to the Zen's controller port (USB-A on the Zen body).
- Connect the Zen to the PS5's front USB-A port — not the rear USB-C ports (which are USB 3.0 and can cause timing issues with some firmware versions).
- Your TV connects to PS5 directly via HDMI as normal. The Zen is only in the USB controller chain, not the HDMI chain on PS5.
DualSense authentication on PS5
PS5 requires a DualSense for controller authentication. The Zen passes the DualSense's authentication signal through to the PS5, so the console recognises it as a real DualSense. This is the standard Zen passthrough function — it works out of the box on current firmware. You do not need to do anything special for this step.
Remote Play workaround
If you use PS Remote Play (playing PS5 through a PC or phone), the Zen cannot be used in the Remote Play chain because Remote Play uses a software input layer that bypasses USB HID. To use scripts with Remote Play, you would need to keep the Zen connected to the PS5 console directly and use Remote Play for video only — which is an unusual setup. Most players use the Zen directly on console and skip Remote Play for scripted gameplay.
Which PS5 games have VZ scripts
All games in the VZ library work on PS5 since scripts run on the Zen device, not the game client. Popular PS5-focused libraries: Apex Legends, Call of Duty, NBA 2K26, Fortnite.
PS5 controller settings to optimise for scripts
- Input Lag: Performance Mode — lower game lag means script timing is more accurate.
- Deadzone: Minimum — scripts assume minimal deadzone for accurate micro-corrections.
- Adaptive Triggers: Off — Adaptive Trigger resistance can interfere with rapid fire scripts that simulate trigger presses. Disable for scripts; re-enable for single-player game feel.
